Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Springfield MO
555 AM CDT Sat Sep 14 2019

...Updated for 12Z Aviation Discussion...

.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)
Issued at 245 AM CDT Sat Sep 14 2019

High pressure at the surface was located overhead early this morning
allowing for much more comfortable conditions. This high will slowly
move eastward today, allowing for southerly winds to return to the
area pulling low level moisture back into the region. The most
noticeable effect will be across southeast Kansas and western
Missouri, where dewpoints will rise to near 70 by late afternoon
along with mid 80s highs. It will however, remain rather
comfortable across the eastern Ozarks throughout the day, with low
80s for highs and surface dew points only climbing into the lower
60s.

Very similar conditions are expected tonight, with lows ranging from
around 70 in southeast Kansas and western Missouri, to the lower 60s
across the eastern Ozarks.

.LONG TERM...(Sunday through Friday)
Issued at 245 AM CDT Sat Sep 14 2019

The Sunday through Wednesday time frame still looks to be dominated
by upper level ridging that builds back westward into the region.
Summer-like temperatures will return to the area, with daily highs
in the upper 80s to low 90s and overnight lows in the upper 60s to low
70s. Will likely see afternoon heat indices well into the 90s again.

Our next chances for any meaningful rainfall will come on Thursday
and Friday as an upper level wave tops the ridge to the north,
potential pushing a frontal boundary into the area. This will
also tend to cool temperatures down.
